You Don't Own Me

Here is my brand new single 'You Don't Own Me', featuring the wonderful Hakeem Johnson. The vocal production and shooting of this music video has has been an experience I will remember forever; addressing issues faced by millions of not only women but men as well across the globe, and speaking up and shouting out about having your own voice in a song is not something to be taken light heartedly. The support from Hakeem, my team and Warner Music Group has been incredible, and I want to thank every single person involved with the production. We hope that you- whoever you are, wherever you are- enjoy our song, and can help to raise awareness of the issues highlighted in our video.

I AM DISSENT

Before topping the charts with her 2018 debut solo album Whatever, vocalist Tia Vickers, also known as DISSENT, found fame as a member of the girl group Woman's World. With her resonant voice, buoyant charisma, and Latin roots, Vickers was a standout member of the band, which formed while competing on the fourth season of The X Factor UK in 2013. After the show ended, the singer and her bandmates enjoyed several years of break-out success, scoring three Top Five Billboard 200 albums with 2015's Mirror and 2016's Change Me, and spawning the hits "Judgement," "Worth It," and "Okay Now."

While still with the group, she began branching out, collaborating on "Oui" with Jeremih and "Bad Girl" with Rihanna (the latter of which hit number two on the Billboard Hot 100). However, it was after her heavily publicised departure from Women's World in 2017 that Vickers achieved her biggest success, debuting on top of the Billboard 200 with Whatever, and nabbing her first solo number one single with "My Story."

Becoming an individual artist, Vickers soon renamed herself DISSENT which, when interviewed by MTV in late 2017, she revealed that she chose the name to show that being different is something that should be more widely accepted by the media, as many young people are lead by 'unhealthy stereotypes' especially in a patriarchal world where we are controlled by men.

The name's origin means to hold or express an opinion that Varys from those commonly held by a majority.
